Invitation: COVID-19 as an opportunity to rebuild economies while addressing climate change challenges

EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy and Global Shapers Community Prague would like to cordially invite you to an online panel discussion, which will place on Thursday May 28th, from 14:00 (CEST) online on Facebook pages of organizers and directly under this linkYou can submit your questions to our speakers through comments at the live stream or any time before the event via email.

Climate risks have been discussed globally and we have almost reached a tipping point where there is no turning back. The COVID-19 pandemic has elicited a global response and countries have taken unprecedented measures to fight together unlike before to fight it. Governments and corporations are implementing temporary measures that if implemented permanently could have a significant potential to reduce global emissions.

This could be a chance to address the challenges of climate while tackling other looming challenges that societies will face after COVID-19 which include investing in renewable energy sources and rebuilding the economy. We will gather a panel of experts who will provide a range of recommendations on how to address these issues and how the Central and Eastern European region should approach these challenges and opportunities.

These questions and more will be discussed by:

  • Karin Huber-Heim, Academic Programme Director, Sustainable Finance
  • Mladen Domazet, Institute for Political Ecology
  • Kateřina Davidová, Research Fellow, EUROPEUM
  • Moderation: Danielle Piatkiewicz, Research Fellow, EUROPEUM and External Advisor, Global Shapers Prague Hub
