What awaits us in 2018?
Seven has shifted to eight and 2018 is already well underway. The Forum 2000 Foundation is preparing a number of interesting events this year. The most important ones include the Forum 2000 Conference and its traditional accompanying program, the Festival of Democracy; the all-year-round project Coalition for Democratic Renewal; the NGO Market, a fair for non-government organizations; and the Democratic Solidarity project which aims to promote democracy in Latin American countries. On behalf of the entire Forum 2000 Foundation team we look forward to meeting you at our events.
Visit the NGO Market 2018!
NGO Market, the largest NGO fair in Central Europe, will take place on April 11, 2018 from 11am to 19pm at the Forum Karlín premises. This year´s title is “The Stories of Civil Society”. Nonprofit organizations have a positive impact on the lives of millions of people, and we believe that their stories deserve to be heard. Come hear them out! The fair is traditionally free of charge for all visitors.
Register your NGO today
Would you like to attend the NGO Market as an exhibitor? Then it is high time to register. The capacity is already two thirds full, although the registration started just a few days ago. You can present your organization not only by distributing leaflets, but by using practical demonstrations, workshops, or live performances to capture the attention of visitors, potential volunteers or donors.
Coalition for Democratic Renewal
The Coalition for Democratic Renewal (CDR), a global initiative of a group of intellectuals, activists and politicians, concerned with the expansion of power and influence of authoritarian regimes and the simultaneous weakening of democratic systems from within, is growing in influence as well as in the number of signatories. Its founding document, the “Prague Appeal“, has already been translated into four other languages, being newly available in Spanish, German, French, and Russian in addition to original English. Some of the Prague Appeal signatories will arrive in Prague on February 26, 2018 for a prestigious conference called “Sharp Power: Rising Authoritarian Influence”, in which they will present a study on the foreign influence of China and Russia on the domestic politics of countries in Eastern Europe and Latin America.
Democratic Solidarity in Chile
On May 2 – 4, 2018, the Forum 2000 Foundation will organize the third edition of the Democratic SolidarityConference, this time in Santiago de Chile. The event will consist of a full day of internal workshops among experts and activists, followed by a public discussion on the second day, organized in cooperation with Fundación para el Progreso.
