Themes of the 29th Forum 2000 Conference
The 29th annual Forum 2000 Conference will be held in Prague on October 12–14, 2025.
At a time when democracies face unprecedented internal divisions – alongside rising authoritarianism, widespread disinformation, and the rapid pace of technological change – this year’s conference will primarily examine how we can reconfigure cooperation between global democratic actors to address these challenges.
The discussions will focus on the following thematic areas:

A Coalition of 72 Organizations, Including Forum 2000, Call for the Release of Publisher Jimmy Lai
In October 2024, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that securing Jimmy Lai’s release was a “priority” for his government. On August 21, 2025, a coalition of 72 organizations led by Reporters Without Borders and the Committee for Freedom in Hong Kong (CFHK) sent him a letter, urging him to press Hong Kong’s authorities to release the Apple Daily founder on medical grounds.
The ICDR Welcomes New Members
The International Coalition for Democratic Renewal (ICDR) – a global initiative of a group of intellectuals, activists, and politicians founded by the Forum 2000 Foundation in 2017 – is pleased to welcome several new faces into its midst, including Natalia Stercul, a political analyst from Moldova, Evan Alireza Firoozi, executive director of NetFreedom Pioneers, Iran, Romina Bandura, a senior fellow at the CSIS, USA, Juan Fernando Flores, National President of the Movement, CREO, Ecuador, and Elaine Ford, founder of Democracia Digital, Peru. The ICDR aims to demonstrate solidarity with the brave people who are fighting for freedom in undemocratic societies around the world.
