DEMAS – Association for Democracy Assistance and Human Rights and its project partner Education for Democracy Foundation (EDF, Poland) took part in organizing a study visit as a part of a multilateral project entitled Sharing V4 Experience of the EU Integration: Technical Assistance in the Areas of Legislation Reform and Cooperation with Non-governmental organizations (NGOs). This project is led by the Foundation for Development of Democratic Rights (DemNet, Hungary) and brought together several NGOs from the Visegrad region and Georgia, apart from the DEMAS (CZ) and EDF (PL), Pontis Foundation (SK) and Civitas Georgica (Georgia) belong to the consortium. The project was supported by the International Visegrad Fund(IVF).
The second study visit was held in both the Czech Republic and Poland and was focused on sharing best practices from the third sector. The event in Prague took three days, September 19 – 21, 2011. Nine representatives of regional Georgian NGOs and public administration attended several lectures on various topics such as working in a platform, NGO management, financial management, European financial instruments, sharing experience from democratic transition, video activism, civic participation or Czech foreign policy towards Georgia. All lectures were prepared by the DEMAS Secretariat and DEMAS member organizations. The study trip continued to Warsaw where other relevant topics related to the third sector were discussed.
