THE MAGHREB IN THE WAKE OF THE ‘ARAB SPRING’:
STRATEGIC IMPLICATIONS FOR EUROPE

=========================================================
The conference will focus on the current security situation in the Maghreb. Special attention will be paid to the European Union’s attitudes to the transformation and integration processes in this vital region. The event will also ponder the potential for an ‘experience-sharing’ process between the Maghreb and the Central and Eastern Europe countries which had already experienced the transformation to democracy.

The distinguished speakers will evaluate the ongoing socio-political changes in the Maghreb and discuss how Europe can contribute to a greater security and stability in the region which would benefit both North Africa and the EU.

Speakers include:

DUSTIN DEHEZ, Free University, Berlin
MAREK CEJKA, Institute for International Affairs and Masaryk University
MOHAMED BEN-MADANI, The Maghreb Review, London
ATTILA KOVACS, Komensky University, Bratislava
ABDELMALEK ALAOUI, Global Intelligence Partners, Rabat

The event is organized with a generous support of the Representation of the European Commission in the Czech Republic.
