DEMAS – Association for Democracy Assistance and Human Rights in cooperation with members of the association, EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy and the Forum 2000 Foundation, are organizing an international workshop “How Can Central European Civil Society Assist the Egyptian Transition?” The workshop is taking place on Monday, June 6, 2011 in Prague at the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic in Czernin Palace, with kind support of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Endowment for Democracy and Representation of European Commission in the Czech Republic. The invitation accepted representatives of the Egyptian civil society sector, representatives from Visegrad countries and Czech and international experts on transformation policy, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The purpose of the meeting is twofold, to learn about the current situation and needs of Egyptian civil society after the people’s revolution and to explore the relevance of the Central European transition experience for Egypt. These two parts shall lead to concrete attitudes, possibilities and intentions how to support Egypt on its way to democracy.
