Relevance of the Visegrad Group in Today’s World

26 July, 2017 @ 18:0019:30

AMO would like to invite you to a public debate in which Czech and Slovak journalists will discuss pros and cons of the Visegrad cooperation for the region of Central Europe.

Visegrad Group (V4) has been a successful promoter of Central European cooperation for more than 25 years. However, with the recent migration debate, the Visegrad trademark has lost much of its value and there are voices doubting the relevance of Visegrad in the future. Our debate will therefore discuss such a perspective and will try to answer the questions whether Central Europe still needs the Visegrad Group as well as what are the current benefits, shortcomings, as well as prospects we will have to face.

Confirmed speakers:

Tomáš Brolík, Journalist, Respekt (CZ)
Martin Ehl, Chief International Editor, Hospodářské noviny (CZ)
Andrej Matišák, Deputy Head of Foreign Desk, Pravda (SK)

Chaired by: Jakub Eberle, Senior Researcher, Institute of International Relations Prague

The debate will be followed by a glass of wine.

The debate is a part of the summer educational programme for V4 university students called “Model V4+ Germany” supported by the International Visegrad Fund and the Czech-Polish Forum.
