Following approval by DEMAS member organizations, a new member organization with observer status joined DEMAS at the end of October – Czechs Support Tibet!
The Czechs Support Tibet was founded in 2016 as a follow-up to the previous informal activities of its members and in response to the deteriorating domestic political situation, when top state representatives deviated from their traditional support for Tibet and unhealthily linked the Czech Republic with communist China. Through its activities, the CST seeks to inform the Czech public about the situation in Tibet and China and through its rallies and cultural and educational projects it enables them to show solidarity with the Tibetan people. It supports human and civil rights, cultural and religious freedoms and the right to a healthy environment in Tibet. The CST cooperates with Czech legislators and state authorities, as well as with the Tibetan exile administration and the office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
