“Serbia’s road to EU membership: Challenges and Opportunities?”

The event will take place on Tuesday, 26 June 2017 from 15:30 to 17:00 at the European House, Jungmannova 24, Prague 1.

The lecture will be led by Professor Tanja Miščević, Head of the Negotiating Team for the Accession of Serbia to the EU.

Tanja Miščević is current Head of Negotiation Team for the Accession of the Republic of Serbia to the EU, full professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade, and Vice-President of the European Movement in Serbia. In the pastshe has held several influential government positions; 2005-2008 Director of the European Integration Office, 2009-2010 Vice President of the board of the Serbian Anti-Corruption Agency, 2010-2012 State Secretary for Defence Policy at the Serbian Ministry of Defence, 2012-2013 Special Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister responsible for foreign trade, as well as UNDP Senior Advisor for Security Projects in the SEE region. Furthermore, she has an illustrious academic career that has seen her lecture at the Centre for European Integration in Bonn, the University of Montenegro, the diplomatic academies of Serbia and Croatia, respectively, and more. She has received “Contribution of the Year to Europe” and “The Best European of the Balkans” awards for her work, as well as the “Rainbow” award for her promotion of LGBT rights and the fight against homophobia in Serbia. She has also been honoured with the degree “Knight of the National Order of Merit” by decree of the President of France.
