An international conference Eastern Partenrship: Towards Civil Society Forum organized by the Association for International Affairs will be held in Prague on May 5th and 6th, 2009.
DEMAS – Association for Democracy Assistance and Human Rights
DEMAS, an independent platform of Czech non-governmental organisations (NGOs), was established in 2008. The founding membership comprises 11 NGOs that have over many years demonstrated their commitment to the support of democracy assistance, human rights and civil society in the Czech Republic and abroad.
The Czech Presidency of the European Union and the European Commission are organizing a conference entitled Building Consensus about EU Policies on Democracy Support. The conference will be held on March 9th-10th in Prague.
This report examines the developments in Belarus within the fundamental freedoms, including freedom of the media, freedom of association and freedom of assembly. It also considers freedom from political persecution and arbitrary detention, the repression of civic activists and updates on economic liberalisation.
The eleventh international human rights documentary film festival One World organized by People in Need will be held in Prague from 11 to 19 March 2009 and then travel to a further 29 towns and cities throughout the Czech Republic.
