In an open letter, a group of Czech NGOs are urging European politicians to call on their Russian partners during the upcoming EU-Russia Summit, on the 21st and 22nd of May, to liberalize Russia’s restrictive NGO law.
DEMAS – Association for Democracy Assistance and Human Rights
DEMAS, an independent platform of Czech non-governmental organisations (NGOs), was established in 2008. The founding membership comprises 11 NGOs that have over many years demonstrated their commitment to the support of democracy assistance, human rights and civil society in the Czech Republic and abroad.
Belarusian human rights defenders and former political prisoners in cooperation with foreign experts began work on a draft law on rehabilitation of victims of political repressions. This initiative was supported by Czech non-profit organization Civic Belarus, which organized a roundtable “The Strategies for Eliminating Political Repressions in Belarus” in Human Rights House in Vilnius on 10–11 April 2009.
